What is a Synonymous Parallel Event?

A “Synonymous Parallel Event” is when one person meets with another who has a similar experience.

When two or more people coming from different walks of life, share the same path of being the victors, or the losers, hence the word “Synonymous”.

Mathias and Ulysses from left to right.

The word “Parallel”, is how similar both of the character’s situations are between the two. Could one be more severe than the other, or are they both experiencing the exact same thing?

The “Event” is the spark that ignites the realization that the two are having the same experience. Whether you’re from a different planet, from the future, or of a different species, a Synonymous Parallel Event is always possible.

In “Terrance Baldwin’s The Tarbles”, a scientist from a different planet named Mathias, meets with a man named Ulysses from Earth.

On Mathias’s planet, there are space pirates known as the Shecka, who threaten to blow up Mathias’s planet on the exception that he gives them a device.

Ulysses lives in the segregated era of Jim Crow. Ulysses remembers the race relations on his planet and decides to help Mathias.

Many wars and roads to peace were created by a “Synonymous Parallel Event”, coming together for a common cause to bring change.

Here’s a few examples:

America versus the British.
The Black Panther Party
Nat Turner’s Slave Rebellion.
